Coffee - Uncommon grounds: The history of coffee and how it transformed our world.
Uncommon grounds: The history of coffee and how it transformed our world.
I think this guy's ambitions were too big for the scope of this book. He explained in great detail the market for coffee, but he didn't talk enough (for me) about the implications of coffee (has it indeed changed our society?). It was still a very good read.

Coffee - Coffee Basics: A Quick and Easy Guide
Coffee Basics: A Quick and Easy Guide
I have read a number of books on coffee, but Knox and Huffaker's book is simply the all-around reference on coffee. While other book publishers include snazzy photo plates and recipes to sell their expensive books, this book gives tons of useful information on what goes into a wonderful cup of coffee. The experience and the passion that the authors (who are industryexperts) have for the bean shows throughout. Because of this book, I was able to significantly enhance my family and friends' coffee drinking experience. Whether you're a novice coffee drinker or a seasoned espresso barista, this is one book that should be in your reference shelf.

Coffee - The complete idiot's guide of Coffee and Tea
The complete idiot's guide of Coffee and Tea
ronically enough, I actually was a complete idiot about coffee before I read this book. But I had a burgeoning interest in the subject and I can now say that I'm quite well-versed in it. I was amazed at the complexity involved in getting coffee from the plant to your cup, and this guide does a great job of laying it all out, step by step.

Coffee - Perfect Cup: A Coffee lover's Guide to Buying, Brewing and Tasting
Perfect Cup: A Coffee lover's Guide to Buying, Brewing and Tasting
I'm a coffee freak. I roast my own espresso and grind it with great care and pump it through a two group computer controlled professional Italian espresso machine. My wife thinks I'm obsessive about it. With that in mind, Perfect Cup provides a lot of excellent information that most people probably don't know, about how to make a great cup of coffee. It also talks about the characteristics of different kinds of coffee.

Coffee - Coffee at Luke's: An Unauthorized Gilmore Girls Gabfest
Coffee at Luke's: An Unauthorized Gilmore Girls Gabfest
Coffee at Luke's: An Unauthorized 'Gilmore Girls' Gabfest" is a Smart Pop series collection of essays put together by Jennifer Crusie, whose introduction points out the utter appropriateness of a bunch of people taking about "Gilmore Girls." As an overview she points out that the show always kept in mind the basic rules for great dialogue: keep it moving, give everybody the best lines, talk up to your audience, and remember that the best dialogue is the stuff you can't hear. For each of these she has choice examples, which will immediately cause you to counter with your own personal favorites, and suddenly you are sitting down and joining the conversation the back cover proposes when it suggests you have some coffee at Luke's.
